Of Light and Rain

Of Light and Rain

Thought:
The Hybrid Nature of Love
reveals it self in the ledges leading
to soreness and joy

Act:
The chance we catch the right drop
once we start running
is neither bigger
nor smaller -
the rain keeps falling
blindly – so it was
said and understood and raising
both our hands
we sat on the ground
legs slightly crossed
just admiring, waiting
and getting all
divinely
wet

Hallucination:
Approaching the skyline
from that east end slope, tiny ash
particles, dancing
squeezing their amazingly
thin
gravitational center
in erratic circles
until almost touching
the ground – by then, literally
vaporizing and slowly
fading up into
the blue
anew

Comprehension:
The light
reminded me of one of Rembrandt's famous
paintings – such a timeless device to play with
eternity should endure
forever -
and yet I could now
feel my bones
soaking
and my flesh began
aching; thus
we got up and back we went
through that narrow, scary ledge
only
this time, we
felt
joy

Intermittence of (or unfinished thought)

Intermittence of
(or unfinished thought)

The weather changed. How
I hate those twists

Snails approach with
numbness, leaving a trail
for the next season

a wet spot on the wall
allows me to know the rain
has been falling

for a while, I hear it
scrolling through
the gutter

and believe

intermittence is a word
describing much, as
rain
snails
and feelings

The line of thought
suddenly
as a telephone signal
breaks

I wanted to tell someone
about the snails
but
I'm left
alone
with their silent
image crossing my mind
slowly

and they are
increasingly.

Barão Reports – Coffee And a Mosquito

Barão Reports - Coffee And a Mosquito

On the way to Lagos
just the usual Saturday visit to the
big local city market, the road
suddenly
became wet.

Despite a fairly grey sky, the
temperature was warm, the air
dumping scents of fennel
curry and rock rose – my favorite!
a must have I collect in bunches for later
re-use, just in case a big cozy hug comes in hand.
Parked the car at the right spot, family
out – we love returning to the same places
including same people
their fancy habits, improbabilities
the expression in their faces slightly
changing but keeping the soul
year after year
makes you develop something I would call
attachment to
frenzy of staying;
and then the rain fell
hard as it does
seldom, for less than a minute – we could hear it
smashing against car roofs -
that’s it, was gone
no regret or compunction
showing.
Now the rest is up to you
grass, good and bad weeds
marigolds, poppies
raise your wild beauty and leave us
dreaming of more.

On the way back, more or less at
the same mile, the road became dry.

The pleasure of eating fresh shrimps with salt & lemon
makes me think of nothing.
The tuna steak in onion sauce
was savored and swallowed
as if unique.

The owner of the café approaches smiling with coffee and a mosquito; he assures me
It never rained here.

Sixty second day
